Durante la semana santa de este año, pasé unos días con Elena por la capital de Italia. El viaje ha sido puramente turístico, pero he aprovechado para observar especies nuevas para mí como el gorrión italiano (Passer italiae) y otras que raramente se pueden observar en la Península Ibérica como la corneja cenicienta (Corvus cornix). 

Last Easter, I went to Rome with my girlfriend Elena. The trip was mainly touristic, but we took advantage of being there to watch some new species like the italian sparrow (Passer italiae) and other rare species for the Iberian Peninsula such as the hooded crow (Corvus cornix). 

Ambas especies se pueden observar facilmente por toda la ciudad.

It´s easy to watch both species all over the city.

Dentro de la ciudad los mejores sitios para poder observar un mayor número de especies son los parques y jardines, como Villa Borghuese en la foto de arriba, que es un sitio bien majo para darse una vuelta. 

Inside the city the best spots to watch a good number of species are parks and gardens, such as Villa Borghuese (picture above), which is a really cool place to walk around for a while.

Unas fotos de mi especie favorita, que he podido realizar durante estos últimos meses en la zona montañosa de Fonfría (Teruel). 

Some pictures of my favourite species that I took during these last months on the mountain area of Fonfria (Teruel). 

Gaviota Bonaparte en el embarcadero de Vadorrey

El pasado lunes día 19, me acerqué una vez más a dar una vuelta por las orillas del Ebro y cuál fue mi sorpresa al observar la especie más rara que he visto hasta día de hoy tan cerca de casa. Se trataba del individuo de gaviota de Bonaparte que se viene observando desde finales de enero en los depóstitos de Casablanca y en la Depuradora de la Almozara (ver aquí). 

Last Monday, March 19th, I went again for a walk around the banks of the Ebro and what was my surprise when I watched the rarest species that I have seen so close to home. It was the individual  of Bonaparte´s Gull that has been observed since the end of January in the deposits of Casablanca and in the Almozara Water Treatment Plant.

La localización del individuo se realizó desde la orilla este del río y posteriormente me aproximé hasta la otra orilla para realizar mejores fotos sin molestar a las diferentes aves que allí descansaban. 

The individual was located at the east bank of the river. Later on, I went to the opposite side of the river to take better photos without disturbing the different birds that were resting there.

En esta foto se puede observar mejor las diferencias (tamaño, plumaje) con la especie más similar (gaviota reidora situada a la derecha). 

In this photo you can observe how different it is (size, plumage) compared to the most similar species (black-headed gull on the right).

Otras especies como el cormorán grande (arriba) o el martín pescador (abajo) también se pudieron observar en el embarcadero.

Other species such as the great cormorant (above) or the kingfisher (below) could also be observed at the pier.

Mi lugar favorito en el mundo. Deseando volver a subir este año para poder disfrutar una vez más de sus paisajes, de sus momentos, de su biodiversidad... de momento me conformo con sus recuerdos. 

My favourite place in the world. Wishing to come back  this year there, and enjoy once again their landscapes, their moments, their biodiversity ... at the moment I am satisfied with their memories.
