Valle del Ebro 2020

 A pesar de este año tan diferente, debido a mi trabajo, he tenido la fortuna de poder disfrutar de mucho campo a lo largo de todo el año. Y aunque no saco mucho tiempo para poder hacer fotografías durante la jornada laboral, aquí dejo algunas de las mejores que he ido haciendo. 

Despite this very different year, due to my work, I have been fortunate to be able to enjoy a lot of field work throughout the year. And although I don't take a lot of time to take pictures during the workday, here are some of the best I've been doing.

El fantasma del barbecho; sisón común (Tetrax tetrax)

Durante esta primavera del 2020 que ya se acaba, tuve la gran suerte de estar trabajando cerca de una de las cada vez más escasas zonas con sisón común (Tetrax tetrax) en el valle del Ebro. 

During last spring of 2020 that is now over, I was very lucky to be working near one of the increasingly rare areas with the little bustard presence in the Ebro valley.

Viendo los resultados de los censos nacionales realizados recientemente para esta especie en Aragón, los madrugones merecieron la pena cada vez que se escuchaba la pedorreta de los machos cantando a lo lejos, cuando se escondían entre la maleza de los barbechos, o asomaban la cabeza por encima de los campos de amapolas en flor para desnucarse y exhibirse ante las hembras de la zona. 

Observing the results of the national censuses recently carried out for this species in Aragon, the early rises were worth it every time the farting of the males was heard singing in the distance, when they hid in the undergrowth of the fallows, or they stuck their heads out of above the fields of blooming poppies to strip their necks and show off to the females of the area.

Esperemos que al igual que para muchas otras especies ligadas a medios de secano tradicional, no sea demasiado tarde para su conservación y estas joyas de la naturaleza aragonesa cada vez más amenazadas consigan perdurar contra el futuro tan incierto que tienen por delante. 

Hopefully, as for many other species associated to traditional rainfed environments, it is not too late for their conservation and that these jewels of Aragonese nature, increasingly threatened, will be able to endure against the uncertain future that lies ahead.
