Piquituerto - Common crossbill (Loxia curvirostra)

Durante estos meses he estado realizando censos de aves migratorias en el Pirineo aragonés para el Proyecto Lindus II coordinado y dirigido por SEO/BirdLife. Pasar tanto tiempo de manera continua en el monte te lleva a disfrutar de un sin fin de observaciones y recuerdos que se quedan grabados en tu mente para toda la vida y más, si cuentas con unas vistas tan sobrecogedoras y espectaculares.

During these months I have been doing census of migratory birds in the Aragonese Pyrenees for Lindus II Project coordinated and directed by SEO / BirdLife. Spending much time in the mountain takes you to enjoy so many observations and memories that stay in your mind for life and also with startling and spectacular views .

A lo largo estas semanas iré publicando poco a poco diferentes entradas y fotos sobre todos estos momentos para reactivar el blog que lo tenía medio abandonado. Quería empezar esta serie de entradas con el piquituerto común, una especie que me gusta mucho y que me ha hecho gran compañía en horas en las que el paso migratorio flojeaba durante este mes de octubre en el Puerto de Somport.

Throughout these weeks I will publish gradually different entries and pictures about all these moments to reactivate the blog that was half abandoned. I wanted to start this series of posts with the common crossbill, a species that I really like and it has made me great company in times when the migratory pass got low during this October at the Port of Somport.

Como se aprecia en las fotos, durante esta época del año los piquituertos se muestran muy activos y forman pequeños bandos en los cuales los adultos, tanto machos (color rojizo anaranjado) como las hembras (gris verdoso) acompañan a los pollos volantones (gris verdosos con barreado en el pecho) y realizan cebas así como les enseñan a obtener el alimento abriendo las piñas.

As we see in the photos, in this time of the year the common crossbill are very active and form small flocks in which adults, male (reddish-orange color) and females (greenish-gray) accompany the fledglings chickens (greenish-gray stripped chest) and feed them and teach them to obtain food by opening pinecons.

Pirineos 2015

Voy a ir poniendo estos días todas las fotos que he ido haciendo este año y que por tiempo, pereza o razones varias no puse en su momento. Éstas pertenecen a las especies que he fotografiado en el Pirineo en las distintas visitas que realicé.

I am going to put these days all pictures that I took during this year and cause of by time, laziness or other reasons I couldnt let on the blog on their time. These ones belongs to the species that I photographed in the Pyrenees on the different visits that I did.
