Aragón 2021 (Parte I)

During this year 2021, which has also been quite rare, with its curfews, entry and exit restrictions between provinces and communities ... I have tried to take the opportunity to visit some of the places that I like the most in my land, some already more than acquaintances, others to show friends and others that I have discovered for the first time.

Among them, Gallocanta that fills with water offers the possibility of watching many species every time you walk around the lagoon, Pyrenees (few times for what I am used to but I was able to spend a whole week visiting them in spring), Sariñena, El Cañizar, Cinco Villas, Guara and many of the regions that make up the Ebro Valley for work reasons.

Here are the photographs that best represent these field trips during this year, in which, although I have dedicated myself more to enjoying the observations and using the camera less, I have also enjoyed immortalizing the following species for my memory .

During last spring of 2020 that is now over, I was very lucky to be working near one of the increasingly rare areas with the little bustard presence in the Ebro valley.

Observing the results of the national censuses recently carried out for this species in Aragon, the early rises were worth it every time the farting of the males was heard singing in the distance, when they hid in the undergrowth of the fallows, or they stuck their heads out of above the fields of blooming poppies to strip their necks and show off to the females of the area.

Hopefully, as for many other species associated to traditional rainfed environments, it is not too late for their conservation and that these jewels of Aragonese nature, increasingly threatened, will be able to endure against the uncertain future that lies ahead.
